Robert L. Shoenfelt established R.S. Tool in 1980 at the age of 66. His background was extensive in the design and production of Commercial and Residential Aluminum and Wood Prime and Replacement Windows, Doors and building products. Mr. Shoenfelt is credited with being one of the first Tool and Die Makers to replace conventional machining operations with punch press operations in what was once the mighty window manufacturer, Weather Seal, in Barberton, Ohio. He directed and controlled all aspects of manufacturing processes for eight different plants in eight separate locations in Ohio from the middle 50’s to the late 70’s. Mr. Shoenfelt served the Engineering Dept. for nineteen years with Weather Seal until he retired in 1977 to start a successful window sales franchise called Nu Sash from 1977 until 1980. Fond of golf but not the NE Ohio winters, Mr. Shoenfelt came out of retirement a second time to start R.S. Tool for the purpose of “getting out of the house” in the winter months. His youngest of five sons joined him in ’80 to “learn the trade”. After a five year, one on one NTMA accredited apprenticeship program, the youngest son, Paul took over the reins of R.S. Tool in 1985 and has served as President ever since. Paul M. Shoenfelt, current President and owner of R.S. Tool Inc., has successfully designed and produced thousands of dies, jigs, fixtures and special devices and machinery for the Window and Door Industries, Aluminum and Vinyl Extrusion Industries and Custom manufacturers. Tooling and Dies built in the early 80’s are still in production today at many locations across the East Coast and Midwest.
